MATCH REPORTS FOR DERBY ROYALS - SEASON 2010/2011

DERBY ROYALS 5 - ROLLS ROYCE LEASURE 1

I got the feeling after 15mins that this game was going to turn out to be just like our first game of last season, with the Royals having most of the play but failing to score. Lucky we brought our boots with us today and Chris  with a superb close range volley resulted in our first goal of the season. Problems at the back! one miss read long ball and they punished us  1.1. With shouts of "we are back in it boys" from Rolls Roycesboys , the Royal exploded into life and within minutes Gaz had the  Royals back in front. Halft time 2.1 The second half saw Rolls Royce backed into a corner there where never getting out of with Gaz scoring 2 more superb goals and Adam windass Clarke killing the game off in the 90th minute

ROYALS 7 - 1 CHELLASTON

I think Chellaston turned up expecting an easy win against a team that last season were two divisions below then. Far from it, with the Royals still being unable to fielding there strongest team. The class difference showed but instead of the Royals looking two divisions below Chellaston, they looked at least two divisions above them. Chellaston spent most of the game chasing shadows and it was not long before Chello reverted to trying to snap our players as they could not match us or catch us. After 35 mins the ref had to send one of the Chello players off for trying to headbutt one of the Royals, the score was 3-0 at this point. Half whistle was blown as the Royals scored there 4th, at half time it was agreed with the ref to allow Chellaston to field another player to bring the number back up to 11 players as otherwise it would have been no challenge at all for the Royals. The Royals made 5 changes at half time and a further 4 during the second half but this did not stop the goals flooding in. final score 7.1

Man of the Match Jordan outstanding at defensive mid

ROYALS 5 - 0 COBRA
Cobra played two different sides, with a younger reserve side in the first half and last years first team in the second. It was a funny game, At times we played some beautiful football with Foxy spreading the ball from one side to the other creating real problems for the young cobra side and at other times the team played some really poor and silly balls. The break came about 20 minutes into the game when Gaz ran the ball out of defence and picking out Midge on the left side who past his man with ease to slotted the ball home 1-0. The second came around 10 minutes later with a quick free kick again from Gaz that found Greg who went past his man to the byline then put in a brilliant ball that was finished with ease by Erion 2-0. Cobra's first half team only had one chance and that was superbly blocked by an onrushing Ash in goal .The second half kicked off with Cobra switched to their first team with the Royals also making some changes. Cobra started the stronger of the two teams, creating a couple of really good chances, but it was the Royals who struck again with a brilliant counter attack that was finished off superbly by Jamie. From then the result was in no doubt, The Royals only had one real scare late on when Cobra broke and found their way into the box, getting a decent shot on target that Ash turned round the post for a corner. In the last 15 minutes the Royals finished of a deflated Cobra by scoring two more goals with Reece and Clarkey finding the back of the net.

Man of the Match - Scott Wightman

ROYALS 4 - 1 CODNOR
This was the royals first pre-season game and it showed with us conceeding an early goal. The Royals were shocked for a few seconds then set about getting that goal back, with us playing a new formation today we had no idea how it was going to play out but after we restarted the game from conceeding you could see that Codnor were going to find it hard to get the ball back from the midfield. We played some amazing one and two touch stuff with the ball being played around the pitch at ease, with Foxy, Andy and Jordan in midfield they controlled the game and set the pace and it was only moments later that Midge broke free and was chopped down by the keeper in the box, had this not been a friendly he surely would have gone.
Greg put the penalty away with ease even with a bad penalty spot.
From this point on the result was in no dout with the Royals going on in the second half and scoring 3 more goals from subs.
Two from Clarkey with a casual finish and some pure strength for the other and another one from Jake from guess where? thats right inside the six yard box proving again that he is prolific from that range!
The men of the match today were -Jord, Foxy, Gaz and Midge.
Just one will do next time though Rob!
